What is Christians for Life?

Christians for Life Association is a tax-exempt organization that meets quarterly at the Western Hills Church of Christ, 8800 Chapin Road, Fort Worth. This special interest group wants to learn more about sanctity of life issues such as abortion, euthanasia, and stem cell research, and to share the information with others.

We believe in the sanctity of all human life and consider each person to be of infinite value and each life a gift from God to be cherished, nurtured and redeemed. Human life is sacred because it is made in the image of God and has an eternal destiny (Gen. 1:27). Sacredness is not conferred, nor can it be taken away by human agreement.

Mission Statement:

The mission of Christians For Life is to encourage a greater respect for human life, to promote biblical values in our American culture, and to reduce the number of abortions through education and through projects that aid those who support sanctity of life.

Established in 2001

CFL deplores the ready acceptance of abortion by much of our society, which reflects insufficient concern for vulnerable persons, including the unborn (Ps. 82:3-4).

We hold to the Christian ideals of chastity before marriage and fidelity within the marriage relationship and, consistent with these ideals, support measures to prevent crisis pregnancies. We are opposed to abortion as a means of birth control, family planning, sex selection or for any reason of mere convenience to avoid the responsibility for conception.  When such an unwanted pregnancy occurs, we advocate that the situation be accepted and that the pregnancy be carried to term.

We recognize there can be tragic and perplexing circumstances that require difficult decisions regarding a pregnancy. For example, if continuing a pregnancy would jeopardize the mother's life, we believe the decision rightfully belongs to the woman and her family. If there were already children in the family who would be left motherless, this should be included in the decision-making process. Such decisions should only be made after prayerful and thoughtful consideration, with appropriate involvement of the woman's family and spiritual, medical and other counsel. A woman in these circumstances needs acceptance, love and compassion. When an abortion has taken place, those needs still exist.

CFL quarterly meetings are limited to about an hour and a half, and usually consist of some type of informational presentation followed by a brief business meeting. CFL sponsors a project each quarter aimed at assisting organizations that promote sanctity of life, and the projects are initiated and reported on during business meetings. We also publish and distribute a quarterly newsletter. Copies of newsletters published during the last year are available on this website (in the archives) by clicking the date desired.

We are not affiliated with any national or local pro-life organization. Although this activity is not a ministry of the church, the elders at Western Hills have graciously allowed us to use the building as a meeting place. They receive a report of all our meetings. We want to emphasize that the group's interests are spiritual, not political. You do not have to be a member of the Church of Christ, or have a preference for any political party, to attend -- you simply need to be interested in promoting sanctity of life.

If you are interested in attending our meetings, receiving our newsletter, or if you have any questions about Christians For Life, please feel free to contact us.
